For a century, the Niagara Parks Power Station quietly turned the Niagara River into electricity. Today it’s one of the most impressive attractions in Niagara Falls — a restored Edwardian generating hall, interactive exhibits, a spectacular night show, and a tunnel that takes you 180 feet underground to a platform right at the edge of the river below the Horseshoe Falls.

What You’ll See Inside
The generator hall is enormous — a cathedral of steel, marble and tile with the original generators still in place. Interactive displays and a self-guided audio tour explain how the station worked, with stories from the people who ran it. Even if you’re not an engineering fan, the scale of the building is worth the visit.
The Tunnel
A glass elevator drops you 180 feet down to the tunnel that once carried spent water back to the river. You walk the length of it — cool, echoing, and dramatically lit — until you emerge onto an outdoor observation platform at river level, with the Horseshoe Falls thundering in front of you. It’s one of the most unique views in Niagara. Bring a light jacket: it’s cool underground year-round and misty at the end.
Currents: The Night Show
After dark, the generator hall becomes the stage for Currents: Niagara’s Power Transformed, an immersive sound-and-light show projected across the hall. It’s a great rainy-evening activity and pairs well with the fireworks in season. See more in Niagara Falls at Night.

Tips
- Book a timed ticket online in summer — tunnel entry is staggered.
- Go late afternoon, then stay for the night show.
- Great option in winter and on rainy days since most of it is indoors.
- The WEGO bus stops nearby; parking is available along the Parkway.
Is It Worth It?
Yes. It’s the most underrated big attraction in Niagara — less crowded than the boats, open year-round, and the tunnel view is unlike anything else. Families with curious kids and anyone who’s “done the Falls” before will love it.
